Castle Rock Development Updates
Pine Canyon
The 535-acre property, which straddles Interstate 25 (from Front Street to Founders Parkway) and was previously unincorporated Douglas County land surrounded by the Town of Castle Rock, recently received annexation approval into the town. The comprehensive development plan proposes up to 800 single-family homes, 1,000 multifamily units, and 600,000 square feet of commercial space including a hotel and spa, a mobility hub, and an elementary school site. According to the plans, the development aims to preserve approximately 176 acres for parks and reserve about 33% of the area for open space and trails.
The Brinkerhoff and Bar Hummingbird
Situated just north of Savina’s (formerly La Loma), The Brinkerhoff and Bar Hummingbird have recently opened for business. Bar Hummingbird is a Mexico City–inspired grill featuring prime steaks, sushi, and an upscale cocktail lounge. The Brinkerhoff is a large event space adjacent to the restaurant. Both are architecturally stunning!
Castle Rock Sports Complex
Castle Rock is moving forward with construction of a new indoor recreation facility, the Castle Rock Sports Center, as part of the Brickyard development partnership. Located on Prairie Hawk Drive adjacent to Interstate 25, the center will focus on sports development and fitness to complement the existing youth-focused Miller Activity Complex. The complex will include a competition gymnasium, several multipurpose courts, a 25-yard pool and warm-up pool, an indoor fitness area, group exercise rooms and spinning studio, party rooms, an indoor track, and more.
Castle Rock Historic City Hotel Renovation
One of Castle Rock’s oldest buildings, the City Hotel on Perry Street near 5th Street, will undergo an exciting renovation that includes a boutique hotel, restaurants, and a rooftop bar. The four-story boutique hotel will feature 33 rooms and retail space on the first floor. The project is anticipated to open in summer 2027.
Dawson Trails
The Dawson Trails project encompasses more than 2,000 acres west of Interstate 25 off the new Crystal Valley Interchange. This large-scale development will include 5,850 residential units (single-family and multifamily), 3.2 million square feet of commercial space, approximately 750 acres of parks and open space, and yes — a Costco!
